Professional ethos

I’m committed to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and lifelong learning. In my clinical practice, I specialize in chronic and multifactorial neuromusculoskeletal patient cases. I have been a full-time clinician since my graduation in 2007.

Clinical work and expertise

The most common complaints seen in the clinic are

  • Dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems
  • Chronic musculoskeletal pain
  • Headaches
  • Breathing related problems
  • Neurologic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal symptom treatment on different chronic neurologic diseases

The main treatment goals are decreased symptoms and increased function of the neuromusculoskeletal system. The first office visit consists of a thorough history, examination, plan of management, and usually treatment (if there are no other studies needed before treatment). Treatment can include manual therapy, acupuncture, neurological rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, and lifestyle advice. The initial consultation takes forty minutes, and subsequent treatment and rehabilitation appointments take twenty or forty minutes, depending on individual needs.

Academics and specialist studies

My academic background consists of a chiropractic degree earned in the U.K. from 2003 to 2007 and clinical neurological rehabilitation specialist studies from 2013 to 2017 when I was granted DACNB (Diplomate of American Chiropractic Neurology Board) status.

I successfully defended PhD dissertation related to the effect of chronic musculoskeletal pain on balance in 2023. The three PhD articles were published in prestigious journals such as The Spine, BMC Neurology, and The Journal of Clinical Medicine. I received a significant three-year research grant from the ECCRE (European Centre for Chiropractic Research Excellence) in 2021. At the moment, I’m the first chiropractor with a PhD degree and  DACNB neurology specialist degree in Europe.

Multidisciplinary collaboration

I’m a member and delegate of many national and international multidisciplinary expert panels, committees, and associations. I have an active collaborative national and international network with medical doctors, dentists, colleagues, physiotherapists, and psychologists.

Extensive publication record

So far, I have published over seventy articles in different health-related, professional, and scientific publications. I’m one of the authors of the evidence-based multidisciplinary Pain book, published in March 2020 and translated into German by Elsevier Publisher in 2023.

I have been featured numerous times in different leading Finnish national newspapers and health magazines on different aspects relating to neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

The clinic in Helsinki attracts patients from all corners of Finland.

Warmly welcome to the clinic,

Nimmari
