Chiropractor Jani Mikkonen Helsinki
Professional approach
I’m dedicated to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous learning, I’ve been a full-time clinician since graduating in 2007. My focus lies in addressing chronic and multifaceted neuromusculoskeletal cases.
Clinical expertise
The most common complaints seen in the clinic are
- Dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems.
- Chronic musculoskeletal pain.
- Headaches.
- Breathing-related problems.
- Neurologic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal symptom treatment on different chronic neurologic diseases.
The main treatment goals are decreased symptoms and increased function of the neuromusculoskeletal system. The first office visit consists of a thorough history, examination, plan of management, and usually treatment (if no other studies are needed before treatment). Treatment modalities may encompass manual therapy, acupuncture, neurological rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises, and lifestyle recommendations. Initial consultations last forty minutes, while subsequent appointments for treatment and rehabilitation range from twenty to forty minutes, tailored to individual needs.
Academics and specialist studies
- Chiropractic degree in the U.K. from 2003 to 2007.
- Specialist studies in neurological rehabilitation from 2013 to 2017 earning DACNB (Diplomate of American Chiropractic Neurology Board) status.
- PhD dissertation on the effect of chronic musculoskeletal pain on balance from 2019 to 2023.
Currently, I stand as the first chiropractor in Europe holding both a PhD degree and DACNB neurology specialist status.
Multidisciplinary collaboration
I’m a member and delegate of many national and international multidisciplinary expert panels, committees, and associations. I have an active collaborative national and international network with medical doctors, dentists, colleagues, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
Extensive publication record
So far, I have published over eighty articles in health-related magazines and some of the most prestigious scientific publications in my field. I’m one of the authors of the evidence-based multidisciplinary Pain book, published in March 2020 and translated into German by Elsevier Publisher in 2023. I have been featured numerous times in different leading Finnish national newspapers and health magazines on different aspects relating to neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.
The clinic in Helsinki city centre attracts patients from all corners of Finland.
